Yes, for one specific reason: recruiters search the ATS database by keyword when filling roles. Matching the actual vocabulary of the posting determines whether their searches find you. It is about being retrievable by a human, not about pleasing a robot.
Picture the recruiter side of the screen. They have a posting with named skills and titles, and they type those exact terms into the database. If the posting says a skill one way and your resume says it another, the search walks right past you.
So harvest vocabulary from the posting itself: the job title, the named skills, the certifications, spelled the way the employer spells them. Put them in bullets that also say what you did with them, because the same words get read by a person about 7 seconds later.
“Keywords are not a secret handshake, they are the words a recruiter types into a search box on a Tuesday.”
