Mostly no. ATS software parses, ranks, filters, and makes resumes searchable for human reviewers; it does not silently auto-reject on formatting. The real automatic screen is the knockout question: work authorization, required licenses, shift availability. Answer one of those wrong and the rejection is instant, resume unread.
The distinction is worth keeping straight because it changes where your effort goes. People spend hours fighting an imagined formatting filter while clicking through the application questions on autopilot, and the questions are the only part that rejects anyone automatically.
Read every application question as if it were the first interview round, because functionally it is. Then make sure a human search can find you: recruiters query the ATS database by keyword, so use the vocabulary the posting itself uses. That is the whole game, findable and readable.
